Boji Group

Government Relations, Media Relations.

The construction of a new office building in downtown Lansing created more than simple construction obstacles for development company Boji Group. To build the Capitol View complex, the company had to negotiate a complex agreement with both the City of Lansing and State of Michigan for the property. The project actually required special legislation to be passed before it could go forward. The John Truscott Group used its contacts and experience in local and state government to smooth the process.

Capitol View sits on a prime piece of real estate that was being underutilized as a parking lot across Allegan Street from the state Capitol. Boji Group had to negotiate a complex land-swap between the city and state to put this land into productive use with a new 160,000-square-foot building. The $51 million project also included a 1,250-space city-owned parking structure.

JTG also handled all media relations for this project, providing a seamless public message to encourage support of this complex project.
